DOVEDALE :: Barrows and Lows
On the hillsides all around Dovedale and the other Derbyshire Dales can be seen the characteristic wooded mounds representing barrows and lows, ancient burial chambers. Some of the more popular of these are listed below. A barrow is a burial ground, usually dating to the Bronze Age. A low is a conical shaped hill or barrow - usually a barrow on top of a hill.
