Biggin is a pleasant farming village with access to Biggin Dale and thence to Wolfscote Dale and the River Dove. In spring the dale has a prolific spattering of wild flowers of a wide and varied nature, and the whole dale is alive with their blossoms. The blossoms attract many butterflies and song birds. Biggin Dale is a national nature reserve. Biggin village was founded in the 13th century but the existing buildings are all of a substantially later period.
