Opposite to Dove Holes, on the Staffordshire side of the River Dove, are Shepherd's Abbey Rocks, which can be viewed from many directions, from the various rocky outcrops along the path abutting Dove Holes. The river at this point is wide, slow moving and usually containing many species of duck.
